24 Hour Free Hotline: You can call 211 for free county services 24 hours a day for resources for families struggling financially.
Suicide Prevention
The new source is www.yellowribbonsd.org for help with depressed family members or friends who might be in danger of hurting themselves. Some simple steps to remember are: STAY with them until help arrives; LISTEN and take them seriously; GET/CALL help immediately. Free Automobiles:
This is a nonprofit website that provides donated automobiles to struggling families in the USA. You can only apply online at:

Free Food:
Saint Paul’s Cathedral every Thursday from 1-3 pm in the afternoon in the parking lot on the corner of 6th and Olive across from Balboa park hosts the Jewish Community Center’s food pantry. Anyone is welcome. You do not have to be Christian or Jewish or even religious to receive food. They will ask how many people are in your family, and you will receive food accordingly. The cathedral number is (619) 298-7261 and www.stpaulcathedral.org .

Other Family Services (counseling, youth programs, rent/utilities assistance, etc):
Please take a few moments and go to these sites. They have many many services available for struggling families and are very private and confidential. Some are public services and some are religious institutions, but you will be helped regardless of your personal beliefs.
United Way: www.uwsd.org go to the “search site” box in the orange tool bar and type in “Legacy/CHA Agencies” hit enter then click on one of the two links finally… click on any one of the numerous links listed there.
Jewish Family Services: www.jfssd.org and the number is 858-637-3000. They have many services including rent/utilities assistance.
YMCA: www.ymca.org with lots of programs for kids as well as family counseling.
Catholic Charities: www.ccdsd.org click on “programs” then “complete list” and you can access the tabs “clinical” and “emergency services”
Free Prescription Drug Card: www.sandiegodrugcard.com provides discounts of 30% - 75% off prescriptions at most mainstream pharmacies and it is free.
