WELCOME! Welcome to room 42. If you need to contact me to talk with me about your child please email me at my work email [email protected] or send a note or call the school at (858) 987-5100 to leave a message for me to call you back.
WEBSITE: Our FREE classroom website is at www.walkergrade5.weebly.com Please go to the website under “Dobbs” for classroom information and “Yearlong Assignments”/”Directions” for long term assignment criteria and due dates. These are always introduced in class but also listed online for you to see.
GRADES: www.teacherease.com FREE to see your child’s grades 24/7 all year
EXPECTATIONS: The rules are simple and clearly posted in the room. I expect the students to listen to my directions, to be focused, and to be prepared. They do not hurt another person when they are in my care. Everyone has the right to be respected, to feel safe, to listen, and to be heard. They do all work to the best of their ability. If it is not done well, they may recycle it and do it again.
FOOD: Students can eat healthy snacks any time during the school day as long as the snack is healthy and does not interrupt the class lessons. Because of hygiene and food allergies, do not share foods. No birthdays, school policy. The parent handbook has specifics.
MANAGEMENT: Students are rewarded in a number of ways: Star Chart for points to go to the grab box of prizes; Table Points for points to go to the grab box; compliments; positive phone calls home; positive notes home; “caught being good” cards.
If they are not working well, they will be verbally redirected, then the following consequences include staying in at morning recess/lunch recess or after school for 15 minutes; or staying after school for up to 1 hour with parent notification. In extreme cases, a referral to the office occurs.
SIMPLE RULES
1. Listen to the adult leader
2. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
3. Do all your work and do it neatly and carefully
4. Healthy snacks whenever you need it as long as it does not interrupt class
5. Bathroom whenever you need it as long as you hurry right back
HOMEWORK CLUB: Homework club is free and it is voluntary. Homework club is in room 42 immediately after school. Homework club ends at 3:00pm on Mon, Tues, Weds.
